Voting is now open for the Cheerwine Festival Shirt Design Contest; three Rowan County students among finalists – Salisbury Post

SALISBURY — Voting is now open to determine which design will appear on the official Cheerwine Festival 2022 t-shirt.

Three students from Rowan County are on the hunt to have their creation worn by thousands at the Cheerwine Festival on May 21 from noon to 10 p.m. in downtown Salisbury.

Cheerwine challenged middle and high school students to submit their best original Cheerwine brand-inspired artwork showcasing their Carolina pride. From now until April 4, the top 10 entries are available for public voting at: The winner and the two finalists will be announced in mid-April.

“In 2022, we’ve evolved The Cheerwine Festival t-shirt design contest to celebrate our state’s up-and-coming artists,” said Joy Ritchie Harper, Vice President of Marketing for Cheerwine and founding family member of Fifth generation. A press release. “We were thrilled to receive so many wonderful and unique submissions from talented students across North Carolina, and we can’t wait to see which design will be chosen for this year’s festival.”

The winner will receive a $500 gift card, a plaque from Mayor Karen Alexander and more. The winning student’s teacher will receive a check for $1,000 to use for new art supplies. Plus, the two finalists will receive Cheerwine Festival gift baskets, Mayor’s plaques and more.

With approximately 100 entries, the top 10 submissions were selected by a jury, including Charlotte-based artist Monique Luck, Town of Salisbury Events Coordinator Vivian Koontz, Town of Salisbury Communications Manager Linda McElroy, museum director Rowan Aaron Kepley, Harper and Alexander.
