“We want the Seshego Marathon to be at the level of the Soweto Marathon. The shirts are a product for Limpopo and we want the whole province to own the brand and be proud of it,” he said.

He explained that the T-shirt is something different and they considered the colors of the Seshego Marathon logo in the design. “We wanted something elegant and sporty. It is comfortable to run and can be worn with pride,” he said.

The marathon will be held on May 1 and will consist of a 50 km run from Paledi Mall to Seshego Stadium, a 21 km run from Seshego Stadium, around the township and back to the stadium, and a 5 km run which will be a fun race around the stadium.

Kgomo explained that the race is the result of a foundation called Sisonke, which helps learners with reading difficulties in school from disadvantaged families acquire reading glasses. “We needed funding, so we thought of the marathon as a charity event to raise money to help learners.”

Thanks were extended to the sponsors of the event; MTN, Hollywoodbets, Talisman, as well as Energy FM and Polokwane Review to be the marathon’s media partners.
