Wrexham football shirts are changing hands for hundreds of pounds on eBay after the success of Welcome To Wrexham.

Last week, the Daily Post reported that demand for Wrexham AFC products had seen a huge spike following the release of each new episode of the docuseries charting the fortunes of the football club under the co-ownership of Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds.

To measure the documentary’s impact on US viewers, the data science team at Pattern, a global e-commerce company, analyzed consumer demand for Wrexham AFC products on Amazon every day of the year up to ‘now.

The analysis revealed that on average, daily demand for Wrexham gear increases by 47% each week the day after new episodes drop. Demand for Wrexham football shirts has seen the highest increase of any product, with an average increase of 113%.

In terms of popularity, Wrexham home shirts were comfortably the most searched item, with club t-shirts in second place – with a 64% increase the day after the new episodes were released. Wrexham AFC hats were the third most popular item, with a 28% increase.

This huge demand has seen the club’s kit sales skyrocket, with the new home kit sold on the club’s website, while sales of last season’s home and away kits, the kits currently featured in the latest episodes from Welcome To Wrexham, are going for hundreds of pounds on auction site eBay.

An adult 2021/2022 home and away shirt, which would cost around £45 on the club’s website, sells for up to five times that amount, with sales of £230 recorded for the home and away shirt.

And it’s not just those prized replica kits selling for hundreds, old Wrexham shirts have also changed hands for an inflated price.

It is believed that this trend will only increase as more and more viewers around the world watch the hit TV series.

Social media has seen more and more new fans pledge their allegiance to the club who currently sit second in the National League.

Recent episodes of Welcome To Wrexham have proven extremely popular.

Episode 7 is a Welsh special, which consists of Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds engaging in what amounts to massive publicity for Visit Wales. This includes among others a history lesson, a cooking lesson and a Welsh language lesson.

It also features Charlotte Church stunning the pair with stunning renditions of Men of Harlech and Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau.
