ROWING BLAZERS LAUNCHES CUSTOMIZED AMERICAN-MADE SHIRT PROGRAM
Rowing Blazers launched an all-American model Custom Shirt Program (MTO).
âI love button-up Oxford shirts,â said Jack Carlson, founder of Rowing Blazers. âIt’s an American classic and one of the most versatile pieces of clothing a person can own. When I worked as a field archaeologist in Italy, I wore an Oxford cloth button-down shirt almost every day, even in a hundred degree heat, and even when digging in the earth. I had a whole closet full of them. They were breathable; they protected me from the sun; and, most importantly, they didn’t stick to my skin. When the weekend came and it was time to go to a party in Rome or Como, those same Oxford shirts served me just as well. These were Brooks Brothers Oxford shirts, back when Brooks Brothers shirts were made in America and the collar was perfect. I don’t see anyone doing this well now, so I decided we had to do it.
The Rowing Blazers MTO shirt program is straightforward: Customers select from twenty fabrics, all very high-quality versions of old-school American classics (plain and college striped Oxford fabrics in traditional and unexpected colors, and striped linens candy), then choose your preferred neck size, sleeve length and fit (fit, standard or full). Each shirt comes with matte pressed cotton buttons and a hidden label featuring Rowing Blazers’ cheeky cartoon mascot “Henry”. There is only one collar option: an unlined âSâ button placket inspired by The Talented Mr. Ripley era – although more options will be available soon.
âIt took us a long time to perfect this necklace,â added Carlson. âAnd a really good button down collar with that roll is almost impossible to find, so that’s where I wanted to start. We will add other collars – cutaway, club, etc. – as well as cuff, pocket and monogram options. But for now, I wanted to start simple: no fancy online customizers, no foreign sweatshops, no extraneous or ugly fabric choices. Just the perfect collar, the perfect fabric, all the colors of the rainbow and a shirt made in America just for you.
The Rowing Blazers MTO Jersey Program is now live at rowingblazers.com. All MTO shirts retail for $ 175 and are handcrafted in the USA.
