Goodhood celebrates Wemblex’s comeback with personalized shirt
Mark: Goodhood x Wemblex
Key pieces: You can’t go wrong with either colorway here, but if we had to pick just one, we’d go with the blue boy.
Release date: November 7, 2019
To buy: goodhoodstore.com
Editor’s Notes: Originally launched in 1953, Wemblex provided teens with Ivy League-inspired basics.
An archive of unused parts was discovered by Malcolm McLaren in 1974 and with a characteristic punk approach the shirts were destroyed and rebuilt, creating new parts with deconstructed detail. Vintage finds became Vivienne Westwood and Malcolm Mclaren’s infamous Seditionaries Anarchy shirts, which were sold off the shelves at iconic clothing store Sex and then worn by punk pioneers The Sex Pistols.
Resurrected in 2019 by Barnzley, Wemblex is coming back to shake things up. The original style shirts are available in very limited series, with vintage designs from the original 1970s versions.
To celebrate this comeback, Goodhood has designed a custom striped shirt with a star print overlay, available in two colourways, black / white and blue / white. Look for the shirts to release November 7 in Small, Medium, Large, and Extra Large for £ 299 (around $ 385 USD).
